DIY ENGRAVED ACRYLIC GIFT TAGS | CRICUT

Updated: Nov 5, 2021

Create stunning engraved gift tags for your loved ones this year using the engraving tool on the Cricut Maker.

Engrave acrylic shapes to create beautiful personalised gift tags, fabulous enough to hang on the tree!

YOU WILL NEED:

-Cricut Maker Engraving Tip https://shrsl.com/353c4

-Acrylic Star Tag

-Wipeable board marker

-Ribbon

STEP ONE:

Choose a design, search images for candy cane to find the letters I used. add to the canvas then resize so fit your acrylic blank.

Place your acrylic blank on to the StrongGrip Mat, I recommend placing it two boxes down and two boxes across. The machine lines up the engraving a little better if you place it here on the mat. Then tape around all four sides of the acrylic blank with masking tape to secure it in place.

STEP TWO:

Use the Mat Preview screen to move the engraved images to the positions where the acrylic blank is on the mat. If you are using the app on your phone or tablet you can use the snap mat feature to take a photo of your mat and align your engraving by moving it into place.

STEP THREE:

Use the Engraving Tip and choose acrylic as your cut setting, then follow the prompts to engrave the aluminium sheet with your design. Make sure to move the white star wheels over the left-hand side of your machine before you cut.

STEP FOUR:

Once the engraving has finished, use a lint roller to remove any debris from the acrylic blank.

STEP FIVE:

To finish, draw over the engraved areas with the dry erase marker (this doesn't have to be neat, just make sure everything is covered well) and wipe away any excess marks. This will make your engraved design pop!

Thread some ribbon into the blank to create the tag, to make the design pop, cut a shape of vinyl and add to the back of the acrylic shape so that the colour shines through.
