Pops of colour are really in this festive season, these star decorations not only tick ofF that trend they also tick off the marbling trend too.
Using nail varnish is a really quick and cheap way to create stunning Christmas decorations. Find out how to handmade your own beautiful marbled polystyrene stars with this easy tutorial.
YOU WILL NEED:
Polystyrene Stars*
Nail Varnish
Kebab Stick
Disposable Bowl filled with cold water.
*Found in the November Glittery Hands Box
STEP ONE:
Drip the nail varnish colour of your choice into the water. It will sit on top of the water creating a marbled pattern.
Solid colours of nail varnish work best, some metallics and glitters start to erode the polystyrene so test your nail varnish of choice first! I also found some colours come out differently, This was a very red tone which came out pink.
However tempting, don’t swill the water with a stick. The nail varnish sits like a film on top of the water, which when stirred will collect onto the stick leaving no film behind!
STEP TWO:
Stop your kebab stick into the polystyrene star to make it easy to dip.
Slowly dip it into the water making sure it is covered before slowly pulling back out.
STEP THREE:
Leave to dry, this will take the usual nail varnish drying time!
Your marbled stars are now ready to hang.
